A Slip Of A Thing

Dress and faux fur coat: & Other Stories, Bag: Topshop, Tee: The Deep End Club and Boots: Eytys via Matches Fashion

I feel like a silky slip dress is possibly one of the most versatile pieces you can ever invest in. Bold statement, I know, but hear me out. I mean in terms of ends of the spectrum, the options couldnt be wider apart (and endless in between). Obviously, you could wear it for best; I'm talking black tie - pair it with a strappy sandal and a red lip et voila, belle of the ball. But there are so many less obvious options for this key piece that should absolutely be noted.

Numero uno - and polar opposite to fancy AF - pair it with converse, a tee under and a messy barnet. I love trainers paired with a feminine dress (I'm not saying go all out Lily Allen prom dress and Air Max here), it just feels really effortless, cool and a bit unexpected - something I love when putting outfits together. I'd also wear this with a shirt under and some mid heel ankle boots, kind of making an effort but also not too much. I've gone for somewhere in between with this pairing - a chunky boot to androgonise the feminine silky dress and a vintage-feel off white slogan tee beneath. I really wanted to wear my leather jacket to complete this look however since it's STILL bloody freezing the faux fur it had to be. I actually don't mind it with the fur however when we finally get some sun it'll be out with the fluff and in with the leather biker.
