I find it so difficult to motivate myself this time of year, with working from bed days becoming the norm as I hibernate and try my best to be productive. I always make sure I have some 'home days' each week where I don't leave the house and try to chain myself to my laptop to do solid work, but the reality of this time of year is that I seem to have the attention span of a screaming toddler. Last week was a tough one getting back into a proper routine after a lovely Christmas break, and sadly creativity and inspiration isn't something you can force if you're really not in the mood, making you just feel a bit meh. I'm not really one for New Years resolutions but I really wanted to get back on it with blog posts and make sure i'm giving you at least 2/3 a week, so not off to the best start to be quite honest which makes me dissapointed in myself. But, this week I've decided not to beat myself up about things, not to be unrealistic in how much I can get done in a day and not feel guilty if things don't always go 100% as planned. You can only do your best and some weeks that is a lot, then others it's not so much and that is absolutely ok. Today I have spent the day in my flat ticking off some work and some life admin, and being as productive as I can whilst listening to some of my fave podcasts. I got out of my bed office (lol), lit some candles and sat at my desk - little things but steps in the right direction to getting back to post Christmas normal work mode. I always feel like I have a 'to-do' list that is just constant, but today I definitely put a dent in it which is a good start to the week. I think the key to batting this January 'meh' feeling is definitely baby steps, doing little things each day to make yourself feel more inspired and ultimately giving yourself a break and stepping away if you need it. If today wasn't the most productive day in the world so what, you can be better tomorrow.
Hope your week is off to a good start - Monday is done so you're over the worst!
