A few weeks ago me and my family went to stay at the wonderful Bridge House in Shotley Bridge in the North East and we had the most amazing time, so of course I wanted to share all the details with you! (Big soz it's slightly later than planned, life is ridiculously busy at the moment is seems...)
The house is a spacious 3 story riverside home overlooking the river Derwent, with a huge terrace at the back and beautiful country chic interiors throughout. It was built on the site of a 13th century settlement within an area of outstanding natural beauty, and is steeped in hundreds of years of history! There are 4 bedrooms, all decorated so lovely (Shelley really has an eye for interiors and attention to detail), and the house sleeps up to 9 guests. All of the rooms are really good sizes too which is always a bonus! On the first night we lit the chiminea and toasted marshmallows on the terrace overlooking the river - so lovely!
We had a pretty relaxing weekend there as we all just wanted to chill out, but did have a little mooch around the local area. There is a lovely Italian just a round the corner called Sale Pepe (literally less than a 5 min walk!) and a cute coffee shop next to it too called Isabella's which we also sampled and really enjoyed! It's such a beautiful area so it's lovely to have a wander around, and there are also some lovely spots a short drive away too for days out. When I was younger we would always visit Edmundbuyers and Blanchland which we absolutely loved, and they're both places really close by. Would also really recommend a visit to Beamish if you've never been/ are not from the North East - it's an open air museum that tells the story of life in North East England during the 1820s, 1900s, 1940s and 1950s which isn't too far from Bridge house too.
If you fancy a UK break up North I can't recommend Bridge house more AND host Shelley has just become a superhost on Air B'n'B too!
Book Bridge House here and if you have any questions just let me know!
